pdf Bonita Adams, Alka Harriger, and Sandra Doran. Alice Symposium, Duke University, Durham, NC, 2009.
This paper discusses importance of programming at a young age to increasing the strength and number of those in computing, and suggested possible ways to build camps where kids can learn Alice. The paper says that Alice speaks to a generation raised on Pixar animated films and video games. Kids spend a lot of time on the computer, which worries parents–why not create an environment where they can learn something? Learning Alice would do just that. We should also introduce the kids to careers where they can actually get paid for their time on the computer.
